Kitchen residents Workchoice Trust celebrated this week as they successfully co-ordinated 1450 students to visit 93 workplaces in 19 industries in Auckland in one day.

Workchoice Day was set-up to bridge the gap between youth and industry. The transition from school to work is a difficult process for many students. It is even more difficult for those who have not chosen a career and have limited opportunities to explore the available options.

“It’s great motivation for staff as they present about an organisation they are passionate about and it gives them an opportunity to reflect on their own career paths and goals.”

“Our company found Workchoice Day really rewarding – it was an opportunity to share the passion we have for our jobs with some kids who may not have even known that our industry exists. The fact that most of the kids really got involved and had some great ideas was really exciting. We hope they left us feeling inspired.” Boffa Miskell; Sam Bourne, Senior Landscape Architect

But they’re not finished yet! Workchoice Day is a national initiative and they’ll be holding another two student days and three teacher days before the year is out. Find out more here.
